GALACTIC FRINGERS

Galactic Fringers

A Star Wars themed performance and costuming group.

Galactic Fringers is a performance and costuming group loosely based on the ideas and principles set forth by other highly recognizable costuming groups who, with the approval of Lucasfilm LTD, use their creativity and love of Star Wars to bring thematic ambience to parties, conventions, charities and other social events. We consider ourselves an adjacent group, but have no official ties to any other established group. We are NOT affiliated with or endorsed by Disney or Lucasfilm LTD. in any way, and do not represent them or their interests.

The Lucasfilm approved groups have set the standard in Star Wars costuming excellence. Unfortunately though, to many it seems that the standard may have been unachievably high. Full sets of armor are hard to make, and often cost prohibitive. Expertly tailored uniforms for officers and pilots from both sides and Jedi Knights or Galactic Senators pose similar problems. In the main Star Wars costuming groups, their greatest strength is also their greatest weakness. Their understandable NEED for EXACTING regulations and costume standards is what makes their costumes so extraordinary, but it is also quite prohibitive in terms of creative freedoms.

Star Wars is a story that takes place over the expanse of an entire Galaxy, of which the brave Rebellion, mighty Empire, and fierce Mandalorians represent only a tiny fraction. Galactic Fringers aims to be the costuming group that represents all the “other guys” in Star Wars. The Grand Republic and subsequent Galactic Empire encompassed more than 10,000 signatory races, species and civilizations; roughly 99.99% of which were represented visually as little more than colorful blurs.

Our Mission

MEET THE CREW

JIN'ZEN KANE  is the roguish pirate captain of the "Stellar Jay" with a mysterious past and a suspiciously unnatural streak of "luck". Occasionally donning the armor of a Mandalorian, Jin'Zen serves the highest bidder, or the noblest cause.

Terra Astra is the shapeshifting Clawdite Comms Officer of the "Stellar Jay". As well known for her proficiency with a blaster as she is for her expertise in the art of traditional intergalactic dance, Terra has become notorious throughout the Outer Rim and Fringe territories as a pirate and performer.

SAN MALSON, or "Mal" to his friends, is the First Mate of the "Stellar Jay". Cool under fire, Mal effectively uses tried and true by-the-book tactics in all of his pirating endeavors. But as we all know, there is no "book" of pirate tactics... Where did his experience come from then?

HADRIA WYLDER is known as a bit of a loose cannon. Though reliable as the Logistics Specialist of the "Stellar Jay", she can get carried away on raids and boarding parties, often accidentally shooting at her own reflection, as though she didn't recognize the face looking back at her.

CX-G7 is the glitchy  human/cyborg relations specialists, translator, and data processing unit for the "Stellar Jay". After gross mistreatment by, Imperial and Outer Rim criminals he once served, CX's malfunctioning remains were recovered from a "derelict" Hutt Cruiser by the crew of the "Stellar Jay" during a "routine" salvage operation and restored to partial functionality by the Captain.

TEE'LA, codenamed "Shen", formerly the Chief Engineer of the "Stellar Jay", is now the Mayor of Raven Outpost, a small trading settlement in the Galveston system, where she supplements the outpost's budget by relieving unwary travelers of their credits in her habadashery and at the Sabacc table.

Simply known by the codename, "Rising Phoenix", a seasoned scavenger, born of the sands of Tatooine, navigates the seedy underbelly of the galaxy hunting valuable relics, precious gems, exotic spices, and ancient technologies. Rugged charm and shrewd negotiation skills have made "Rising Phoenix" a sought after figure in the Outer Rim and Galactic Fringe Territories; if you want it, they've got it... or can find it... for a price.

Tavin Rune is a self-employed "archeologist", with an uncanny, semi-spiritual expertise in ancient Jedi artifacts. Unconventionally trained in the Jedi Arts, in a post-Order 66 galaxy, Tavin developed the skills and senses necessary to overcome the dangers of relic hunting. She can most often be found navigating the ruins of ancient temples, disarming their traps, and defending her finds from pirates, marauders, pillagers and grave robbers.

The enigmatic 22nd Brother is a former(?) member of the Imperial Inquisitorious, who made no attempt to hide his past when joining the crew of the "Stellar Jay", but agreed to a temporary cessation of hostilities toward crew members who were not ardent supporters of the Imperial remnant for such time as their goals and objectives aligned with his own. Slowly it seems, that loyalty toward the crew is blossoming, as flickers of white can be seen in his lightsaber blades, on the less and less rare occasions when he defends one of his crew mates in battle.
